A Glimpse into The Fuel Girls Auditions: The Search for the Next Generation of Fire Performers!

If there’s one thing The Fuel Girls have always been known for, it’s our love for pyrotechnics, epic aerial acts & producing awe-inspiring fire performances (even if we do say so ourselves!). With over 20 years in the industry, we’ve wowed audiences worldwide with our fiery displays. Yet, even as we continue to set the stage on fire – both metaphorically and literally – our commitment to fresh new talent and innovation never wanes.

This year marked another exciting chapter in our story, as we hosted auditions in London, aiming to uncover the next wave of talent to join the iconic Fuel Girls brand. Our mission was to find performers who could match our passion, skill, and fearless attitude that’s required to take to the stages with us, around the globe. With over 300 applications pouring in, the anticipation and excitement was palpable! 

Imagine our dilemma – having to review so many talented applications brimming with talent and potential! It was a month-long process, as we dived deep into understanding the capabilities of each beautiful artist.

Over the past 3 months we have been sharing a schedule of socially distanced, but very much together, free online classes & tutorials on our Fuel Girls FACEBOOK LIVE. This has kept us SANE and connected throughout this weird lock-down period! It has also created a lot of fun as well as keeping us both fit AND stocked up on hugely sugary home made cakes. They do say it is all about balance!

We have given you online classes in fire choreography with Katie (obviously with unlit props, so no house fires here!!) to make-up tutorials with Charlotte. Cooking classes with Shireen, fitness classes with Von and Yoga with Kayla plus lots more. We have all joined each others classes and enjoyed seeing the faces of our gorgeous crew and YOU LOT, over this time of….. well how can we describe it…. lock down insanity!

We have now turned some of those public online classes private (via Zoom and some face to face), to allow you to learn 1-2-1 and work with us in a more in-depth way. We have focussed our classes on the things you asked for, such as choreographing with specific fire props or working on certain make-up looks –

When did the London Tattoo Convention first start?

The first London Tattoo Convention was held in September 2004.

Was it always at the Tobacco Dock Venue?

Actually no… We started in Brick Lane at the Old Truman Brewery. At the first London Tattoo Convention we invited around 300 tattooers, it was not the huge show it is today. We held the show at the Old Truman Brewery for 4 years, then my partner Marcus Berriman discovered Tobacco Dock, which at the time was not a very popular venue. Actually, I think I can say that the London Tattoo Convention put Tobacco Dock on the map, because at the time we were the biggest event to be held there. The reason we switched venues was to find a bigger place because the convention was growing fast and becoming a life style and cultural festival, not only a tattoo event, and Tobacco Dock was the best venue available in London for this.

The tattoo scene has changed a lot. The biggest changes in the recent history of the tattoo world happened in 2004 when the Discovery Channel released ‘Miami Ink’,

Hello Fuel fans, and welcome to another instalment of my monthly blog! I’m almost 100% sure you know me by now, but if you’re unfamiliar, I’m Fuel’s longest-standing member. I’ve been with them coming up to 14 years now 🥴 and alongside performing I work on production with our boss Hannah and help out with our social media.

I worked out today that I’ve actually been in the industry for 17 years! I started out at 17 as a glamour model back in the day when lads mags existed (which is how Fuel found me) so have quite the breadth of experience when it comes to navigating relationships whilst performing/creating sexy content.

As young Fuel Girl’s in the prime of our careers, we all always used to get the classic line from new partners after dating them for a little while, ‘IT’S ME OR THE FUEL GIRLS!’ – you could almost plan on a calendar when it was coming 🤣

It seems that people find it difficult being with us for many reasons; 

A: LOT’S of travelling

B: lot’s of attention

C: Very sexy shows

D: Being very fierce strong independent women can sometimes be challenging for some men. 

This summer it’s all about motorbikes, leather, rock ‘n roll, party times and always FIRE!

The Fuel Girls are busy all summer with a string of exciting Summer shows to keep you fired up! This weekend they are in Basel, Switzerland for the motorbike show Biker Days Basel, an epic FREE motorbike show and parade, through one of Switzerlands most beautiful cities! Amazing streetfood, entertainment, music, motorbikes and of course, The Fuel Girls! Thanks to gorgeous girl-power organiser Lucia for inviting us back for another year, we absolutely LOVE this show!

Next weekend we head off to Brisbane, Australia for the Australian Tattoo Expo at the Brisbane Convention Centre! With over 57,000 visitors annually, this celebration of creativity and art promotes the skills of world-renowned artists in Australia and around the world.Meet the industry’s most talented artists, research the different tattoo genres, trends and techniques and make an appointment or get inked on the spot! All this AND get to see Katrina,

London Tattoo Convention!

The Fuel Girls will once again be taking London Tattoo Convention by storm on the 22nd, 23rd, 24th September at Tobacco Dock.

Performers in our epic stage show include Teta, Katrina, Sasha and Hayley as well as our new Fuel Girl Kasia, who will be performing a solo aerial bondage show every day! Kasia won our ‘search for a Fuel Girl’ audition earlier in the year and we are amped to have her with us at this show!

Our merch booth will be manned by gorgeous Von and Yusura throughout the weekend, so you can come and pick up some merch, get some posters signed and get a pic with the girls! They will also be joined over the weekend by Kayla, Charlotte, Jasmine and Shireen, so if you get lucky, you may just get to meet all the girls!

Its going to be an epic show and we always look forward to this one!

The Fuel Girls have performed on the main stage at London Tattoo Convention for a number of years and this incredible platform has allowed our show to grow bigger and better and more dangerous!!

The Fuel Girls are back Down Under in Australia in both September and December for the Australian Tattoo Expo!

After a succesful show in Sydney, the Fuel Girls will be back to Perth on the 15th – 17th September and all guns will be blazing! Sasha, Katrina, Teta and Hayley will be bringing the Fuel Girls FIRE to the stage, with some special tricks and some serious skills thrown in! Guys, if you are in Perth, this is really a show not to be missed, you will KICK yourselves if you are not there, at the front, camera in hand! (we said CAMERA!)

If you are on the opposite side of the country, then fear not, you will get the chance to see the girls perform in Melbourne early December too! Keep your eyes on the event website for dates and details.

The Fuel Girls will be running a competition online in the lead up to the show, where they will be inviting a lucky winner for breakfast at their Perth apartment – and yes, The Fuel Girls will be cooking! A full English fry up, before heading off to watch them perform live,

Fuel Girls Auditions – meet our new Fuel Girls!

So, alot of you will know that we held an epic audition for a new Fuel Girl a few weeks ago at Proud Camden.

We had a huge response, with auditionees flying in from Paris and Los Angeles and travelling by train from as far as Scotland! Despite there being a storm and with trains cancelled, so many performers still made it and gave it their all! We had hoola hoop girls, we had fire archers, we had rope bondage, fire spinners, aerial straps, hoops and some pretty awesome fire dancing! A fantastic night, with a loud and VERY supportive audience and a few drinks to be had by all!

Firstly, thanks you SO much to everyone that made the effort to be there! We loved every single performance and wish we could take pretty much everyone into our group! BUT the final decision was to take not just one performer, but TWO and now we have expanded our group to include fire performer Jasmine and the multi-skilled Kasia! Two gorgeous girls who we cant WAIT to take on tour!

2017 has started off with a BANG! At the end of last year we posted our search for a new Fuel Girl on facebook

The response has been EPIC! We have recieved so many applicants, from all over the world. The UK of course, but beautiful and skilled performers from the USA, Mexico, Spain, Austria, Belgium and more! We are really excited by the gorgeous girls applying and are currently working our way through your emails, pics and videos! We already have our eyes on a few 😉 Fire performers, aerial performers, pole performers, dancers, burlesque beauties, circus babes, party girls, motorbike queens and awesome characters! Love you all!

We will be hosting a ‘meet the Fuel Girls’ night in London soon and we hope to see some of you perform! We dont want to subject you to a ‘top table’ audition, so expect something alot more relaxed and fun!!!

And don’t worry if you are not in the UK, we will still take the time to check you out thoroughly, you never know what could happen…. 😉
